Indiegogo staffers are putting crowdfunded products to the test in our series of honest reviews. In this edition Cheryl, APAC Sales Director at Indiegogo, tested the Genki: Moonbase, a futuristic command center for your gaming setup, creative workspace, or office on the moon. How well did it work? Read on to find out more.
Unboxing First Impressions
When I first unboxed the Moonbase, I was genuinely excited—it felt like unwrapping a gadget from the future. The sleek white finish with orange accents immediately stood out, reminding me of a high-end designer piece (think Philippe Starck vibes). The “nodes” on top had a subtle glow that gave it a futuristic, lunar aesthetic—like something straight out of a sci-fi film. Everything about it screamed premium, from the packaging to the product’s sturdy build. Even before plugging it in, it was clear this wasn’t just another power strip; it was something special.

My Favorite Features (and a Few Quirks)
Here’s a quick rundown of what I loved—and a couple of things I think could improve:
Pros:
🟢 240W GaN Charging: The gallium nitride tech makes it compact and efficient. It easily replaced the clutter of four separate chunky chargers on my desk.
🟢 Four USB-C Ports: So convenient to just BYO cables and charge my laptop, phone, tablet, and even my Nintendo Switch simultaneously.
🟢 Three Spacious AC Nodes: No more fighting with oversized plugs or adapters! The space between the nodes is perfect for larger chargers.
🟢 Universal Compatibility: I love that I can gift this to overseas teams without worrying about plug adapters—it’s perfect for global offices.
🟢 Aesthetic Design: It’s as much a conversation starter as it is functional. The glow is adjustable, and I can’t wait to see the final version with more light.
Cons:
🔴 Not Portable: While I love it for my desk, it’s a bit too bulky to bring on vacations. But they do have an add-on called TurboCharger that is like a portable version of it!
🔴 Glow Transparency (Prototype): The current version is a little dark, but I was assured the final product will let more light shine through.

Real-World Use Cases
After using the Moonbase for two weeks, it has honestly transformed my workspace. I’ve been using it in my office and during workshops I host, and it’s been a hit. Colleagues love that they can plug in their laptops or charge their phones without hunting for an outlet. The four USB-C ports are a lifesaver when sessions run long—no more having to dash back to desks for charging bricks. It’s so versatile that one of my teammates joked it’s like a power station for modern workspaces.
At home, it’s been equally amazing because I am a semi neat freak. The tangle of charging bricks and cables under my desk is gone. Now I can neatly charge my laptop, phone, iPad, and microphone without creating an eyesore. Plus, the minimalist design fits perfectly with my setup—I’m even debating getting the Darkside version for my husband’s black desk.
A true lifesaver for long meetings—everyone stays powered up without leaving their seats
A Few Closing Thoughts
I’ll admit, the price initially gave me pause. But when I thought about how much I’ve spent on individual chargers (my MacBook’s 96W charger was $79 alone), the Moonbase feels like a steal. It’s not just a charging hub—it’s a clutter-free upgrade to my desk, a sleek addition to my workspace, and an all-in-one solution for managing all the devices we rely on daily. Whether it’s at work or home, it’s already hard to imagine going back to my old power strip jungle.
Decluttering my workspace—goodbye, tangled mess!
If you’re someone who charges multiple devices daily or manages shared spaces, I highly recommend backing the Moonbase on Indiegogo. It’s not just practical—it’s something you’ll genuinely enjoy using.
