Ever wondered if our CEO, Slava Rubin, has a corner office with a gorgeous view of San Francisco, or if he sits amongst his peers in our open plan office? Well, you might be surprised to find out that he doesn’t have a desk at all – and it’s not because he has too many meetings to sit down. Slava explains in this Fortune article that he won’t be tied down – because he actually wants to talk to his team. The SEC also passed some new rules which mean that you, yes you, are fancy enough to be an investor too. Equity crowdfunding will bring some big changes to the industry and as usual, we are right on the front lines with publications including TechCrunchInc., and the Financial Times, and Fortune turning to our fearless leader for his wisdom.

A Stanford grad and a UC Berkeley grad have bucked the longstanding rivalry and engaged in a Romeo and Juliet-esque partnership to develop the LucidCam. Instead of the crazy, and crazy expensive virtual reality cameras with 16 lenses, it has two that are spaced at eye distance to mimic a real live human’s experience. And that’s exactly what it’s designed for. Bummed that you’re missing your third cousin’s girlfriend’s daughter’s Bat Mitzvah? You don’t have to! Now you can pretend you’re getting down on the dance floor like the best of them. Creepy? Only a little.

Everyone who is always cold (and there are plenty of you fellow whiners out there) should put the Evolve heated hoodie at the top of your letter to Santa. What’s more, the USB power bank can also charge your other small electronics. Warm and multi-purpose? The top two qualities I look for in any article of clothing.

In the spirit of Halloween, vampire expert Juliet Landau of Buffy the Vampire Slayer is making the ultimate vampire movie. Her documentary “A Place Among the Undead” will feature the creators of some of the best-known Dracula-inspired books and movies of all time. It’s not all pale, sexy Edwards like in Twilight, but it actually examines why we as a society are so obsessed with those (blood)suckers.

Social Innovation News

A style/design blogger used her ability to make stuff look good to turn a homeless shelter into a home. She ran a campaign to give a homeless shelter a makeover and turn it into a cozy, comfortable place, not just rooms with bunk beds. One of her main objectives was to create a space that would foster a sense of community, which is a tremendous asset to people rebuilding their lives.
