Unboxing: Litheli FrozenPack: The First Backpack Car Fridge

By

Indiegogo staffers are putting crowdfunded products to the test in our series of honest reviews. In this edition, Zoe, a Senior Campaign Strategist, tried out Litheli FrozenPack: The First Backpack Car Fridge. Did it meet her expectations? Read on to find out more.

Hi! It’s Zoe again. This summer’s heat is off the charts—global warming really seems to be kicking in, huh?

Remember Litheli? They’re the ones who combined a power bank with a wagon last year. You can check out my previous review here. I love this brand not just because they’re creative, but because their products are always high-quality. Their items are consistently sturdy, solid, and reliable.

This time, they’ve come back with a cooler that’s also a backpack, once again powered by their power bank. As I mentioned before, Litheli wasn’t the first to create a power bank, and they certainly didn’t invent the cooler. But they keep surprising us, don’t they?

Unboxing & Setup

I received my Litheli items in the scorching summer heat. The backpack and the batteries arrived separately, and the backpack came in a box with a nice wood frame. I think Litheli wanted to avoid any damage to the product during shipping.

Here is what it looks like for the whole set:

Features I Loved:

Compact, Quiet, and Powerful

It’s definitely smaller than your regular electric cooler, making it easy to place on the car seat. Say hello to your in-car fridge! On a summer road trip, what could be better than reaching into the backseat for an ice-cold Coke?

When it runs, it’s really quiet. I’m not going to lie; the compressor sound doesn’t even startle my cats. You can hear a very light humming if you sit right next to it, but you wouldn’t notice it from a few inches away.

I plugged in the power bank and started the cooling process. At 15:25, I set it to max cooling when it was at 68°F, and by around 15:49, it had reached 0°F. The battery can run for up to 6 hours, so bringing one battery on a day trip would be enough for me if I use the eco mode.

I put 6 cans of Diet Coke and 8 bottles of 500ml water into the backpack, and it still had plenty of room. I’m pretty convinced I could fit 10 bottles of 330ml cola and 9 bottles of 500ml beer as claimed.

High-Quality

In my last review, I didn’t emphasize this enough, but receiving two of Litheli’s products makes me want to say it: their products are really high quality. The backpack is covered in great fabric that is waterproof and easy to clean.

With the backpack, you get two batteries, a back cushion, backpack straps, and even multiple side pockets. For the backpack straps, Litheli even prepares a box for it since it’s soft! They know this is going to be with you on every hike and outdoor trip, so they make sure it’s top-notch. The attention to detail on the backpack is something I love.

Intuitive

The backpack doesn’t come with a manual, and it doesn’t need one. You just plug in the power bank in one of the side pockets, hit the red button in front to start, and use the plus and minus buttons to control the temperature. That’s it.

In another pocket, there’s a plug for car charging. If you run out of power, you can charge it in the car.

Things That Could Be Improved:

Weight

If I had to nitpick, overall I love the product, but it’s really heavy if you want to carry it as a backpack. I weigh 125 lbs and could only carry this on my back when it’s empty and for short distances, like moving from the car to our picnic spot.

The photo was taken when the backpack was empty and without any straps, cushions, or the power bank.

My partner can manage it, but also only for short distances. Even on a hiking trip with cans and bottles, a full pack would still be a burden for him. But again, I weigh 125 lbs and struggle with my upper body strength. Plus, I’m not a hardcore hiker, so this could just be a personal issue.

Conclusion

Litheli outdid themselves again! I can think of many places to use this: for hikes, road trips, RV trips, picnics, sporting events, and definitely at the beach. Say goodbye to bulky coolers or ones that need ice. For around $300, you can own this amazing product.
