Offering an innovative alternative to traditional fundraising, Beta Ltd. today announces the “Indie Award”, a competition for early stage technology startups.
Beta Ltd. produces startup mixers in San Francisco, New York, Boston, Seattle, Boulder, and Dublin. At each event, a selected group of startups presents before Beta Ltd.’s audience, comprised of hundreds of founders, developers, media professionals, and investors.
To increase the impact of upcoming events, Beta Ltd. has partnered with IndieGoGo to provide event participants with the opportunity to amplify their audience and funding resources through the world’s largest open funding platform. Entrepreneurs attending Beta Ltd. events can launch campaigns on IndieGoGo and become eligible for Beta Ltd.’s “Indie Award”, competing to raise the highest funds.
Now, each bootstrapped startup that passes through Beta Ltd.’s doors will compete for the “Indie Award”, an accolade presented by Beta Ltd, providing exposure and recognition to the winners. The “Indie Award” will be presented to the startup from each event that outraises the rest.
“Traditional fundraising distracts founders from product and growth,” says Christian Perry, Founder & Executive Producer of Beta Ltd. – “We’re doing the opposite. The “Indie Award” helps bootstrapped startups raise money, generate buzz, and attract users, all at the same time. To paraphrase from GetSatisfaction, ‘Fundraising is the new marketing’.”
The “Indie Award” competition is open to startups selected to demo at each Beta event, provided they’ve raised under $100,000 in funding. The competition starts up to 60 days before each event, and ends two weeks afterwards. Following each competition, winners will by announced by Beta Ltd with support from IndieGoGo.
