Team Indiegogo’s Campaign Roundup (10/5/12)

By

Every week, we give team members at Indiegogo an opportunity to talk about the campaigns that have caught their attention. Here’s what we were talking about this week:

An/Product

Ballet Rwanda: creating an arts space for children

Location: Kigali, Rwanda

Ballet Rwanda’s journey has been pretty incredible. The campaigner, Caroline Joan Peixoto, started this ballet school 3 years ago from nothing, and is now teaching 120 girls ballet out of her garage. Let’s get these girls a proper studio! It’s also a Fixed Funding campaign, so they need to hit their goal!

Andrew/Growth

Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back Action Figure Movie

Location: Toronto, Canada

I grew up collecting these same Star Wars action figures, and I really want to see this movie get made!

Send the Code Cadets to Silicon Valley

Location: Canberra, Australia

Geeks of the world, unite!

Crista/Catalysts

Let’s Save Science!

Location: Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania

All of the coolest people I know went to nerd camp (myself included).  Support this campaign and save science for these eager high schoolers.

David/Customer Happiness

Drunk Postcards

Location: Phoenix, Arizona

Reviving the lost art of the postcard, one inebriated sender at a time.

Genevieve/Product

The Woodshed

Location: Los Gatos, California

These guys are putting together a community music teaching and performance space in a guitar store/workshop in Los Gatos. I am a huge believer in the power of music to create and strengthen communities so I love this project!

John/Growth

The Quiet Year

Location: Vancouver, Canada

The world is over in the post-apocalyptic map game what will you do help the community that is left or continue to fragment it?

Karen/Growth

Anthony Ervin – World Cup Tour 2012

Location: Berkeley, California

His campaign launched yesterday and he has raised over $4200 already to send him on his world tour. He made a great video, is giving away awesome perks and he has marvelous tattooed arms!

Nic/Insights

Mosireen

Location: Cairo, Egypt

Independent media collective in Cairo building out the cultural activism that arose from Egypt’s inspiring revolts? Yes please. To ensure total independence they won’t take any money from governments or NGOs so they started this campaign to keep themselves functioning and awesome.

A cool platform to find and download sound for your project!
