With 2013’s South By Southwest festival still in its infancy, Indiegogo team members have descended upon Austin, Texas to take the pulse on the tech, film, and music worlds while imparting a healthy dose of crowdfunding know-how. We have survived torrential thunderstorms, mountains of startup marketing swag, overbooked schedules, and midday happy hours to bring you this update:
March 9th
On Saturday, the Interactive Festival heated up with ffMassive where Indiegogo joined other startups to discuss trends in Internet culture and community. We were lucky enough to be joined for a crowdfunding for hardware panel by campaigners Misfit Shine and InteraXon — as well as Indiegogo’s chief film geek, Brad Wyman (@IndiegogoFilm), who was discussed, “Building Communities Online.”
Meanwhile, Indiegogo co-founder and CEO, Slava Rubin, was joined onstage by Senator Mark Warner and AOL co-founder Steve Case for an insightful discussion on crowdfunding and the possibility for its equity-based future.

Saturday night was capped-off with long lines for parties, secret shows, the premier of Indiegogo-funded Loves Her Gun, and a deluge that sent most off rain-soaked Austin in search of a dryer and a change of clothes.

Sunday brought blue skies and a fresh slate of incredible SXSW Interactive events. Indiegogo gadgets geek, Kate Drane, started her day bright and early at Grits & Greens:

From there, the SXSW Trade Show found its stride with random sightings of Indiegogo partners Access4Artists and The Smalls — and even current Indiegogo campaigners, Scanther!
After the Trade Show, we jumped across a mile-long hallway to Ballroom D in the Austin Convention Center for @gogoSlava’s SXSW Speaker Session, “Go Fund Yourself.” His talk kicked off with the captivating pitch video from the Indiegogo campaign, “The Body,” and continued on with vital entrepreneurial and crowdfunding advice.
