Team Indiegogo’s Campaign Roundup (8/30/13)

By

Every week, we give team members at Indiegogo an opportunity to talk about the campaigns that have caught their attention. Here’s what we were talking about this week:

Slava (@gogoSlava)

SpiritOfInnovation Spirit of Innovation Challenge: Students Grants 4 Social Good

Location: Houston, Texas

Empowering youth, entrepreneurship, & good. I love it!

Ayah (@IndiegogoCA)

Piper Piper: Smart, elegant, security and home automation

Location: Ottawa, Canada

Home security never looked this good! Piper’s fish-eye lens and temperature, humidity, and motion sensors let you monitor what’s happening at home, and its Z-Wave controller works with other devices to make your home smarter. I’d love two things: a Piper, and the puppy in the video.

Bre (@gogobre)

LavaMae Lava Mae – Mobile Showers for the Homeless

Location: San Francisco, California

When was the last time you showered?

Bret (@gogobret)

InnercityRugby Memphis Inner City Rugby

Location: Memphis, Tennessee

Indiegogo Partner Reality is helping ‘Memphis Inner City Rugby’ to bring athletic and mentoring opportunities for inner city youth through the power of rugby.

Caro (@JaramilloCaro)

Juntos The Juntos Shoe: Look Good. Do Good.

Location: Miami, Florida

This campaign’s perk are shoes historically worn only by the working class in Ecuador’s Coast, but that have become trendy for young Ecuadorian people in the past years. Running this campaign on Indiegogo means that those shoes will end up being worn all around the world and since they have an Ecuador map inside of them, everyone will know where they originated and it won’t create another Panama hat misconception!  To make it even better, for every contribution made, the campaign is donating school supplies to one 1 low income kid in Guayaquil, Ecuador!

Crista (@gogocrista)

JosephMagogo Send St. Joseph Magogo to Nationals!

Location: Luwero, Uganda

Share in the campaign success of the St. Joseph Magogo dance troupe as they “gogo” to nationals in Kampala!

Kate D. (@KateDrane)

Petzila Petzila – Connect, interact and reward your pet from anywhere at anytime!

Location: San Jose, California

This ingenious device allows you to interact with your dog wherever you are. How fun is that?

Liz (@gogoGlobalLiz)

BlakeSkjellerup Send out gay speed skater Blake Skjellerup to the World Cup and Olympics

Location: Christchurch, New Zealand

Super campaign for individual rights.  Small country (NZ), big movement — has gone quickly viral as this is clearly a world issue.

Orly (@orlyreine)

Open OPEN – LGC skates Israel

Location: Madrid, Spain

I’m interested in this project because it’s a film about amazing women in a male-dominated sport/hobby and how they want to bring gender equality to the sport while also promoting peace and cross-cultural interactions. Sounds pretty cool!

Ruika (@RuikaLin)

Cosmopolis Cosmopolis Toronto – A Portrait Project

Location: Toronto, Canada

Such a creative photography idea from this Toronto-based campaign that fully explores the idea of global citizenship and cultural diversity within the city. Being the campaign owner’s first-ever crowdfunding experience, the campaign has also been doing amazingly well so far!
