Every week, we give team members at Indiegogo an opportunity to talk about the campaigns that have caught their attention. Here’s what we were talking about this week:
Let’s help Ashana go to college and study computer science!
Location: San Francisco, California
Ashana has dreamed of becoming a developer and now has the opportunity to realize her dream. Help her succeed by supporting her tuition.
Amber
Swimming to Rwanda
Location: Kigali, Rwanda
This campaigner swam across the Straight of Gibraltar to raise funds, and awareness, for the nonprofit organization “Voices of Rwanda,”- an amazing organization which records and preserves the stories of survivors of the Rwandan genocide. Now, he’s running an Indiegogo campaign for the same cause!
Typed Clojure
Location: Perth, Australia
While I don’t understand every technical aspect of what Typed Clojure can do, I always get excited when communities rally together to make something, and it’s exciting to see how much support other developers have show for this campaign.
Yovivo! Resveratrol yogurt for life.
Location: Emeryville, California
This yogurt will be extra healthy. Plus, I can get a lab coat in the meantime!
YOUFO
Location: Amsterdam, Netherlands
Check it out, these guys have invented a new sport! Youfo – an innovative cross between lacrosse, ultimate frisbee, and jai alai.
Musicambia: Music as Social Change in Incarcerated Communities
Location: Brooklyn, New York
Violist Nathan Schram is taking inspiration from Venezuela’s famous El Sistema program, and is developing a musical curriculum for incarcerated communities in the United States. Consider helping Nathan make a difference for members of society who are often left behind.
Waxelene Lip Tube
Location: San Rafael, California
Waxalene is an all natural and organic waterproof balm that contains no petroleum or hydrogenated oil. The existing larger packaged sizes of Waxalene have already made major waves in the health and beauty industry, receiving coverage and praise from top magazines and publications, and is available at Whole Foods, CVS, Bed Bath & Beyond, etc.. With the funds raised through this campaign, the Waxalene creators will be able to make a Waxalene lip tube for on the go lip conditioning.
Never Too Late
Location: San Francisco, California
This campaign is for a film that is documenting Maya’s story of meeting her biological mother for the first time. She was 33 and traveled to Bangladesh for this amazing journey….I was touched by the many layers of this story and so happy for Maya that she had this experience and is willing to share what she has experienced and learned.
The Middleman – The Crowd-Funded Franchise Resurrection
Location: Los Angeles, California
So my campaign of the week is The Middleman, a comic book resurrection campaign by Javier Grillo-Marxauch and Les McClaine. They have a really fun opening to their pitch video, and these creators are raising funds on Indiegogo because the fans want to see more Middleman adventures, including a novelization of the TV series missing 13th episode. It’s all about the fans, and Javi and Les are giving them what they want, and they’re off to quite a stellar start.
Bison Organic Beer Wagon
Location: Berkeley, California
So excited about this campaign. Berkeley’s Bison Organic Beer is one of my all-time favorite breweries. The perks are awesome, and 100% of the profits go to non-profits. Contribute today!
Invention to Mold Chocolate Using 3D Scan and Print Technology
Location: Woodland Hills, California
Imagine turning any real-world object into chocolate using 3d scanning & printing. Enough said!
Typed Clojure
Location: Perth, Australia
Explained to me in lay terms: An optional type face system for Clojure, while maintaining all the benefits of a dynamic language – the programming equivalent of having your cake & eating it too – cool, for those that understand it!
Metal Evolution: Extreme Metal – The Final Round
Location: Toronto, Canada
They raised almost $40K last time, now they’re back in $C. This campaign combines two of my favorite things (and two of Indiegogo’s best demographics): Canadians and METAL!
