Apple iOS 14 Rollout Will Impact All Facebook Pixel Integrations on Indiegogo

By

This is an update to our blog post published on April 16, 2021. We’ll continue to update this post as we learn more about how these changes will impact Indiegogo campaigns and have updates on Indiegogo solutions.

On April 26, 2021, Facebook completed their Facebook Aggregated Event Measurement (AEM) update. These changes have interrupted how Facebook Pixel integrates with Indiegogo campaigns. For several years, the Facebook Pixel feature has given Indiegogo campaign owners a way to see data about who visits campaign pages, insights into Facebook ad campaigns overall, and a way to scale ad efforts on Facebook. However, this update has required Indiegogo to pause all Facebook Pixel integrations on campaign pages.

This is a result of changes to the protocols that Apple and Facebook follow. Earlier in the year, Apple announced that iOS 14 will change how Facebook receives and processes conversion events, requiring Facebook to update its AEM protocol and severely limit app and web conversion events as a result.

We are currently working on a solution using the Facebook Conversion API which will continue to allow campaigners and agencies to operate Facebook advertising campaigns with their own Facebook pixel. We are looking to have a first draft rollout by mid-June.

While we are building out the new conversion API solution, we are removing the pixel call from the browser HTML, and consequently any existing pixels on your pages will no longer be detected by the Facebook Pixel Helper browser plugin. Due to Facebook’s AEM update, the Facebook pixel now has limited access to keep tracking conversion data on Indiegogo. This means all conversion ads will be invalid. If you have verified a domain in your account, you should be able to continue running link ads from your account. We appreciate your patience while we all work together to tackle this change.

If you have any questions, please refer to Facebook’s documentation here. Thank you for your patience as we all work together to continue to find a workaround. We appreciate your partnership and will continue to do our best to work with you as this situation evolves.
