In this edition, our very own Account Manager Colin Leow try out the Amagami Ham Ham, a new robot plush toy that everyone’s talking about. Does it live up to the hype? Read on as we put it to the test!
Unboxing
The Amagami Ham Ham arrived packaged nicely in protective bubble wrap. The cute graphics on the packaging brought out the inner child in me. It got me excited to open up the box, so I could start testing it out. The unboxing experience was completely frustration-free and it took minimal effort to unwrap this robotic plush toy.
The straps holding Ham Ham in place inside the box were easy to remove, and did not require any cutting tools. Just a simple string to pull, and Ham Ham was released!
Setup: First Look and Impressions
Straight out of the box, the Amagami Ham Ham robot was easy to set up. It requires 3 AA batteries (sold separately), and it is clearly marked at the bottom of the box.
No tools were required to insert the batteries. They made it very easy to access the power source with a zipper at the back of the toy.
After that, it’s a simple on/off switch to activate Ham Ham. It seems that this plush toy is made and constructed out of high quality materials. The stitching down to all the little details that make up the Ham Ham look and feel great. It reminds me of a pet cat or dog; it’s clearly inspired by the way pets bring us joy and comfort. It’s soft, cuddly, and oddly very comforting when it starts to nibble on your finger as soon as you place it into Ham Ham’s mouth. I have a 6-year-old daughter, and when it arrived, she just couldn’t wait to open it up to play with it.
Putting the Amagami Ham Ham to the Test
The way it works is all very simple. First, you need to switch the robot on. Then, you place your finger in Ham Ham’s mouth. The built-in sensor will detect your finger, and the nibbling motion will immediately begin. After that, you can just relax, and enjoy the comforting, calming nibbles.
There are multiple types of nibbles (there’s 10 according to the manufacturer); it changes each time you place your finger in its mouth. It is very gentle, and does not hurt your finger or leave any marks. It was very soothing and comforting when I was trying it out, and it is cuddly too.
We were relaxing one rainy evening while watching a movie, and my 6-year-old had Ham Ham on her lap, nibbling on her finger for the entire movie. First, she found Ham Ham very cute and adorable. She also said that the soft nibbling was very calming, soothing, and relaxing.
Final Thoughts
I found Ham Ham very cute, adorable, fun, and cuddly. At first, I have to admit I found it very odd and strange. But after spending time with the Ham Ham, I found the soft, comforting nibbles to be soothing and calming. It really does help you relax. As a toy, my 6-year-old enjoys it. She has been playing with it daily since it first arrived on our doorstep. I think it looks and works great as a plush toy. The Amagami Ham Ham makes a fantastic gift for kids and the young at heart!
