What do a wheelchair that can tow a car, an IV bag that can purify water, and a lightbulb shaped like the Starship Enterprise have in common? They’re all part of the Philips Innovation Fellows competition running on Indiegogo.

With $100,000 in prize money up for grabs and an opportunity to partner and receive mentorship from Philips — the  global  leader in healthcare, wellness and lighting — the stakes couldn’t be higher! Over 35 innovators from all over the United States have answered the call to share their #BIGIDEA to address innovation gaps in the areas of living well, being healthy and enjoying life.

Whether they’ve focused on lighting breakthroughs, virtualizing healthcare, or making the human body healthier and stronger — each campaigner has been inspiring in the way they seek to positively impact how we see, experience, and appreciate our world.

Entrants now have until September 30th to continue garnering support for their campaign, after which a steering committee of Philips executives will determine and announce the top five finalists. The grand-prize winner will be selected by the Philips employees, flown to the North American Headquarters in Andover, MA, and receive $60,000 to further jumpstart their idea. An additional four finalists will each receive $10,000.

Philips is giving the public the opportunity to find the next big idea and amplify it with significant prize funds. They have created a model by which other global companies can leverage their resources to empower local entrepreneurs and innovators through crowdfunding. Whether it’s $1 or $100, every contribution counts and is one step closer to changing the world.
