SAN FRANCISCO, April 20 – Today IndieGoGo, the fast-growing funding website, joined the Startup America Partnership as a participant to support startups and entrepreneurs across the country. IndieGoGo has answered President Obama's call to promote high-growth entrepreneurship, along with a coalition of industry heavyweights including American Express, Facebook, Google, Intuit, LinkedIn, Microsoft, Cisco, Ernst & Young, First Data, and Silicon Valley Bank.

The Startup America Partnership is an initiative formed by the private sector to enact the White House's Startup America campaign, which was launched in January 2011. The Partnership will help accelerate high-growth entrepreneurs across the country, create jobs and sustain economic growth.

"We are proud to have been chosen by the White House and Startup America as one of the partner companies for this groundbreaking initiative," said Slava Rubin, IndieGoGo co-founder and CEO. "Many of today's best companies started as the dream of an entrepreneur and the need for funding. We look forward to helping the next wave of entrepreneurs to find the funding to support their launch and sustain their growth."

As part of the Partnership, IndieGoGo has agreed to offer Startup America Partnership member companies and entrepreneurs the opportunity to raise $30 million of funding at a 50% discount on campaign fees. IndieGoGo will also feature Startup America campaigns on a newly created Startup America Partner Page and provide resources on crowdfunding techniques.

Since its inception, IndieGoGo has helped fund many successful entrepreneurs and startups including:

  • Two engineers who built a remarkable technology that allows a video camera to automatically follow its subject. $24,000 raised
  • An inspirational woman whose funds from IndieGoGo allowed her to open a cheese shop in downtown San Francisco. $12,500 raised
  • A t-shirt company that went from kiosk to a stand-alone store in Lancaster, PA mall. $30,000 raised

IndieGoGo's innovative self-service platform empowers any entrepreneur to raise funds for his or her dreams or ideas. It allows anyone to create a "crowdfunding" campaign that leverages one's social networks and IndieGoGo's promotional network to reach the stated funding goal.
