Thanks to you, over 250 campaigns participated in our #GivingTuesday initiative, raising over $1.3 million dollars from 43 different countries for worthy causes changing the world.
#GivingTuesday is intended to kickoff the giving season. Now is the perfect time to come back, spread the word, and make a donation on someone else’s behalf as a holiday gift.
What an amazing team effort! Together we really can do anything, from advancing disease research to feeding homeless families in NYC to creating libraries in Peru, building a new Sci-Fi museum in Washington DC, or developing a revolving fund for solar projects in Oakland.
To match your enthusiasm, Indiegogo donated $24,000, and we’re excited to announce that our partner, First Giving, is awarding $1,000 to each of the top three Giving Tuesday campaigns:
- Parkinson’s: We’re In this Together (featuring Bill Draper)
- Right to Play: 20 for 20 for 20 (featuring 20 Olympic Athletes)
- Schools Not Prisons (featuring a grassroots student led organization)
We are so grateful for all of our amazing partners and friends who helped spread the word including GOOD, GivingTuesdayLive, Software Advice, Beth Kanter, Dan Pallotta, #GivingTuesday, and hundreds of others.
Also a special shout out to celebs like John Stamos, Danny Glover, who tweeted their favorite causes. Tech/VC luminaries like Bill Draper, Om Malik, David Hirsch, and Dave McClure who launched campaigns to amplify the impact of their own philanthropy. Athletes such as Gabby Douglas and Picabo Street who rallied to support the “right” of children to safely “play” and learn around the world. Contributors such as Jack Dorsey (Twitter and Square founder) and Mindy Grossman (CEO of Home Shopping Network) who funded causes and people that mattered to them.
Please help us to keep the momentum going! Continue to tweet and support your favorite causes. Thank you!
