Indiegogo backers are a special bunch. Thanks to your contributions through Tips for Indiegogo, we’ve been able to donate to causes that matter to the Indiegogo community. And so, for Giving Tuesday, we want to announce our latest donation and acknowledge backers for all of the contributions you’ve made possible.
Tips for Indiegogo allow you to add a tip to any of your Indiegogo contributions, which we then donate a portion of those tips to various causes throughout the year. This way, we can harness the power of the Indiegogo community and pass it on far and wide. Every day on our platform, we witness what our community can accomplish and we’re excited that our community can collectively help those in need.
Over the last year, we’ve donated to several impactful organizations.
- We donated 100% of the revenue from our March 15, 2021 newsletter to Stop AAPI Hate, an organization that works to bring justice and raise awareness of the many issues facing the Asian and Pacific Islander community.
- In May, we used Tips for Indiegogo to make a $17,000 USD donation to Asian Americans Advancing Justice – Asian Law Caucus, the nation’s first legal and civil rights organization serving the low-income Asian Pacific American community.
- In September, we used Tips for Indiegogo to donate a total of $6,800 USD to One Tree Planted, a non-profit organization focused on global reforestation, and the American Forest Foundation, a non-profit organization that works on-the-ground with families, teachers, and elected officials to promote stewardship and protect the forest heritage of the United States.
For Giving Tuesday 2021, we’re donating $4,000 using a portion of Tips for Indiegogo to the American Immigration Council, a non-profit that uses legal, education, policy and exchange programs to honor America’s immigrant history and shape how Americans think and act towards immigration now and in the future.
The American Immigration Council believes that immigrants are part of the United States’ national fabric, bringing energy and skills that benefit all Americans. They serve thousands of individuals in immigration detention centers and use the courts to demand a fair process for immigrants. They are a national leader in challenging the myths and misinformation that too often dominate the political and public debate around immigration, and they use cultural exchange to connect American businesses with the global market of ideas and innovation.
Indiegogo is proud to support the American Immigration Council and proud of everything our backers do to empower that support. From everyone here at Indiegogo, have a very happy Giving Tuesday!
