The great thing about crowdfunding is that people can receive something tangible in return for their contribution to someone else’s idea. At Indiegogo, we call this a “perk.” From a handwritten Thank You note to a part in a movie, perks can come in all forms, shapes, sizes, and prices. These were the top 12 perks of 2012:

A nice “Thank You”, in any language, should always be given to donors, of any campaign. What made a “Thank You” a top perk of the year?
“contributors to this campaign could receive well-designed, living-proof of HONY and Tumblr’s historic partnership.”
— This perk is not even explained. What kind of proof? How is that a perk? It’s not even a definite, it’s a “could”. What made this a top perk of the year?
The answer, i believe, is that people loved THE CAUSES– not the PERKS.
