You probably already know that Indiegogo is the world’s funding platform. What you may not have noticed is that Indiegogo is the Internet’s premier site for funding metal and hard rock. m/-.-m/

It makes sense when you think about it:

  • Metal transcends all countries and languages. So does Indiegogo.
  • A great metal song is raw passion transformed into music. Indiegogo turns passions into realities.
  • Metal is fundamentally about freedom. ’Nuff said.

Let’s get started.

Indiegogo is a place to set great ideas in motion regardless of experience. Boston thrash/black metal band Vrawsche totally funded their debut album on the site:

The same is true for Fresno surf-metal outfit Goreshack, who harnessed their audience to make their first LP “Surf.Mosh.Kill.” a reality:

On the other end of the spectrum, veteran progressive rockers Spock’s Beard are currently funding their 11th studio album and have doubled their goal so far:

Yes. (Yes, that was a pun…).

Even the most intense subgenres get love on the site. Almost $40,000 for a Sam Dunn-produced documentary about death metal, black metal, and grindcore? Sign us up!

Actually, sign us up twice:

Holy diver, batman!

And who can forget funk godfather, hard-rock pioneer, and all-around snappy dresser George Clinton? His campaign for What Studios flies the mothership back into the space station to the tune of $50,419. Funky.

Last, but certainly not least, our quest to prove our metal mettle culminated two weeks ago here:

The Canadian prog-metallers blew past all previous records to raise over a quarter of a million dollars to record their next album without the need for label support. That’s over $250,000 worth of molten metal straight to the fans who made it happen. And there’s still time for you to get in on the action.

We’re not quite two minutes to midnight—it looks like the Indiegogo metal trend is here to stay. Said another way, we’ll be funding after midnight. With Indiegogo, for metal at least, we can truly say “fundraising… and justice for all.”
